Exeter & District Short Mat Bowls League

The League was formed in the early 80's by John Greenaway & John Tancock. We started with 2 Divisions of 8 teams in each Division. After a while this was increased to 3 divisions however this did not last too long. We had a couple of League Sponsors in the earlier years which helped continue the League into the future. We have several Committee members over the years such as:-  John Greenaway, John Tancock, John Smith, Sheila Geach (Smith). Brian Glanvill and many more. Win Tewkesbury was made the Leagues President in the early part of the 80's. The League has remained fairly strong with many teams coming and going like:- East Budleigh, Coaver Club and Ideford just to name a few. Now we have one Division only of 9 teams how times change. The Chairmanship of the League runs on a rota basis so as all Clubs has a hand in the League. The Committee at the moment is :- Chairman Richard Ivings, V. Chairman Barry Goodchild, Secretary/Treasurer Rob Gayton. I hope the League will continue long into the future.
